The Harmful Effects of Smoking

How does it harm you?

          It harms the body because coughing, colds, wheezing, and asthma can be the beginning of the damages. Fatal diseases like pneumonia, emphysema and lung cancer can be caused by smoking.

 Statistics:

·       One person dies every 6 seconds from a smoking related disease

·       Lung Cancer is the most common type of cancer to occur
·       30% of smokers are ages 18 to 20
·       Over 600,000 non-smokers die each year from secondhand smoke                                                                                                                                                                                          

What percentage of teens smoke?

It has declined greatly from 28% in 1996 to 7% in 2015

You can promote non-smoking by showing what effects it has on the body but especially on the lungs.  

How can you promote non- smoking?

You can show what effects smoking has on your health but to really scare them you can show what happens to your lungs.
